In 1998, the Washington, D.C. trade association U.S. Green Building Council founded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). LEED has become the authority for builders who want to work with the environment. Futhermore, LEED's green building requirements can be applied to older homes or new construction, but only new homes can be officially certified. LEED ratings are based off a 100 point scale with three categories: Silver, Gold, and Platinum. We are silver.
